Black Generational Wealth Network
BGWN promotes financial education and strategic support to help communities build, preserve, and pass down generational wealth by laying the foundation for long-term financial independence. We provide solutions to systemic inequities that limit access to jobs, capital, and investment opportunities for Black communities. We also advocate for inclusive policies that expand economic opportunity and remove structural barriers.
Systemic inequities limits access for Black communities to employment opportunities, capital, and the financial tools necessary for meaningful investment. Addressing these disparities requires a continued commitment to financial literacy and advocacy for inclusive policies that dismantle structural barriers.

The State Of Home Purchase Today!
It’s depressing that black homeownership rate and overall wealth gap have reached alarming levels.
The black homeownership rate has persistently lagged behind that of white families, a gap that has widened since the Great Recession. In 2017, the black homeownership rate (41.8 percent) was the lowest of all racial and ethnic groups. Between 2000 and 2017, the black homeownership rate dropped 4.8 percentage points, a loss of about 770,000 black homeowners, while the homeownership rates of other racial and ethnic groups either remained constant or increased.
